Have You Received An I-485 RFE Recently?

Numerous immigration attorneys and green card applicants are reporting receiving Requests for Evidence (RFEs), especially from the Texas Service Center, for pending I-485s. It seems the RFEs are requesting proof of continued employment authorization, and sometimes a letter from the applicant's current employer, among other items.

This uptick in RFEs could be because USCIS anticipates being able to approve the I-485 if and when more immigrant visas become available through re-allocation of visa numbers in the coming months (see this post). In any event, if you do receive an RFE for your I-485, please know that you are not alone. This is a fairly common occurrence right before the application is approved. You of course must answer the RFE before the date indicated in the RFE notice.

If you need assistance responding to your RFE, or with any other aspect of an immigration case, please do not hesitate to contact us at info@sumnerimmigration.com.

Happy responding!
