Clarity and Strength in Immigration Law

Q&A with Sumner Immigration Law Paralegal Ryan Carroll

Q:Tell us about your background. Where did you go to school/what did you study/where did you work previously?

A: I am originally from Salem, VA, a small town in Southwestern Virginia. After graduating high school, I began attending Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA, where I have been residing ever since.

Q: What drew you to immigration law?

A: I studied International Studies and Spanish while I was at VCU, which initially sparked my interest in immigration law. After spending a few years on campus and learning more about immigration as a whole, it basically solidified my future endeavor of becoming an immigration attorney.

Q: If you could visit anywhere in the world you’ve never been, where would you go?

A: I would go to Cuba. It has such a unique culture and interesting history that I have wanted to experience for as long as I can remember.

Q: Have you ever met anyone famous?

A: Yes. I have met (and shook hands with) Kendrick Lamar. My wife and I bought meet and greet tickets to his hometown concert in Los Angeles, and even got pictures with him.

Q: What are you reading right now?

A: I am currently reading my way through the Harry Potter series.

Q: Have you ever been told you look like someone famous and if so, who was it?

A: Yes, multiple people. I have been told I look like a dark skinned Matt Damon. I have been told I look like Lonzo Ball (basketball player). I have been told I look like Michael Porter Jr. (also a basketball player).
