Meet Attorney Samantha Davis!

Immigration lawyer Samantha Davis joined the Sumner Immigration team in August 2018. We sat down with her for a quick getting-to-know-you interview, so that our clients and friends could get to know her better. Here's what we found out!

Q:Tell us about your background. Where did you go to school/what did you study/where did you work previously?

A: I am originally from Miami, Florida and I went to the University of Florida (Go Gators!) for undergrad where I studied Economics and Anthropology. I wanted to escape the heat so I moved up to North Carolina and went to Wake Forest University (Go Deacs!) for law school.

Q: What drew you to immigration law?

A: My great-grandparents on both sides and my grandmother on my dad’s side were all immigrants and I had the privilege of growing up around people from all over the world in Miami. The beauty of this country is in its diversity and I love that I get to play a very small part in ensuring that continues.

Q: What’s your favorite family tradition?

A: My favorite family tradition is what I affectionately call Bagel Sunday. My family is Jewish and originally from New York so we don’t mess around when it comes to bagels. Every Sunday my whole family would go to my grandparents’ house and have a huge bagel feast and spend time catching up with each other.

Q: You have to sing karaoke, what song do you pick?

A: “I Wanna Dance with Somebody” by Whitney Houston. It’s one of those songs where everyone will feel compelled to sing along too which is great because then no one will hear my terrible singing voice.

Q: If you could be an Olympic athlete, in what sport would you compete?

A: I would have to pick bobsledding. Cool Runnings is one of my favorite movies and I have always wanted to try bobsledding but I’m too scared I will fall out. So if I was magically already good at it that would be amazing.

Q: Do you collect anything?

A: I think my husband would say I collect purses but what I’m trying to collect are items from my travels. When I travel I try and bring back something that is significant to the place I visited. I love the idea of my house being full of items that remind me of every place I was lucky enough to experience.

We are so excited to have Samantha on-board. We've enjoyed getting to know her, and know you will too!
