Margaret graduated from VCU in 2012 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Studies and Political Science. In 2011, Margaret was awarded the David L. Boren scholarship by the Department of Defense in order to study a critical language to U.S. national security at a university abroad. Having already studied Turkish in Ankara, Turkey two years prior, she used the scholarship to continue her Turkish studies at Istanbul Bilgi University in Istanbul for the 2011/2012 school year. After graduating, she and her husband joined an American-owned economic publishing company and were sent to Erbil, Iraq to manage a memorandum of understanding with the Kurdistan Regional Government and assess the investment climate of the Kurdistan Region. Margaret served as the project director and worked alongside her husband, the project’s principle editor. After the project concluded, Margaret and her husband returned to the United States and soon after, she joined the Department of State, Bureau of Consular Affairs, Visa Office. She worked in Office of Public Inquiries and later in the Office of Information Management and Liaison. After two years in Washington, Margaret and her husband decided to return to Richmond, Virginia to continue pursuing their careers in their hometown. Margaret has been accepted into the University of Richmond, School of Law and will matriculate there in the fall of 2016.
