USCIS has just implemented the Uniting for Ukraine program. This is part of President Biden's initiative for the U.S. to welcome Ukrainian citizens fleeing their homeland due to the Russian invasion. This program allows qualifying Ukrainian citizens to enter the U.S. on parole, and remain for up to two years. Those who enter under this program may also apply for an employment authorization document (EAD, or work permit). More information about this program, including eligibility criteria, is available here.
In addition, some Ukrainian nationals who were physically present in the U.S. as of March 1, 2022 may qualify for Temporary Protected Status (TPS). This is a temporary program that also allows applicants to apply for a work permit.
We applaud the efforts of the U.S. government to assist Ukrainian nationals who have fled their homeland, and we are happy to assist those who may need assistance applying for these programs.
