USCIS ONLINE FILING - ACCOUNT SETUP

Set Up or Connect Your Company's USCIS Account

Start by determining whether your company already has a USCIS Organizational Account and Company Group. If it does, the next question is whether the person who will sign the filing is already an Administrator in that Company Group.

START WITH THESE TWO QUESTIONS

Where should your company start?

1. Does your company already have a USCIS Organizational Account AND Company Group? Ask internally before anyone creates something new.
2. Is the person who will electronically sign the filing already an Administrator in the Company Group? The authorized signatory and the person who originally created the company account do not have to be the same person.

Important Account Rules

  • Your company creates and controls its own USCIS account. Never send us your password, security answers, or two-step verification code.
  • Use an individual company work email address. Do not use a shared mailbox or personal email address.
  • Create only one Company Group. Company Groups cannot be merged later.
  • Do not start a petition or other USCIS filing from the company account. Our office will initiate the filing.
1. Does Your Company Already Have an Account and Company Group?

Before creating anything new, check internally to determine whether your company already has:

  • A myUSCIS account set up for an organization or company
  • A Company Group for your organization
  • A current Company Group Administrator
If a Company Group already exists Do not create another Company Group. Identify the current Administrator and use the existing group.

Next, identify the authorized signatory.

The authorized signatory is the company representative who is authorized to review and electronically sign the filing on behalf of the employer. This may be the same person who manages the USCIS company account, but it does not have to be.

2. Create an Organizational Account and Company Group - Only If Needed
Do this only if your company does not already have the appropriate account and Company Group.

A. Create the USCIS Organizational Account

  1. Go to my.uscis.gov and select Sign Up.
  2. Use the individual work email address of the person who will manage the company account.
  3. Open the USCIS confirmation email and follow the link.
  4. Accept the Terms of Use.
  5. Create a password, set up two-step verification, and establish password-reset answers.
  6. When USCIS asks for the account type, select:
I am part of an organization or company, a sole proprietor, or an agent.

B. Create the Company Group

  1. Select Create a Company Group.
  2. Enter the company legal name, DBA name if applicable, FEIN, and business address.
  3. Enter the Administrator's profile information and phone number.
  4. Select Create Company Group.
  5. When USCIS asks for confirmation, select Yes, create Company Group.
3. If the Authorized Signatory Is Different, Add That Person as an Administrator

The person who created or manages the USCIS account does not have to be the person who signs the immigration filing. However, the authorized signatory must have the appropriate Administrator access in the correct Company Group before the filing is routed for signature.

2Select Add User

ACCOUNT HELP

Common Problems

I created the wrong account type.
Stop before creating another account. The employer account must be set up for an organization or company. Contact our office for guidance; USCIS may require a different email address for the correct account type.
Someone else already created a Company Group.
Do not create a second Company Group. Identify the existing Administrator and send us that person's account information.
I accidentally started a USCIS filing.
Stop working in the form and contact our office immediately. Do not submit or delete anything unless our team instructs you to do so.
